Derek DeVries
PR Flak | Professional Early Adopter | Social Media Jedi | Professor I'm a life-long geek (still have the bag I sewed back in junior high to keep my D&D dice in). I've been using 'social media' since before it had a name. Unlike many of the 'Fauxcial Media Gurus' (ie people who read a couple of books, started a Facebook page, and set up a blog), I love this stuff and have the benefit of over a decade of immersion in the medium. I spent college in front of a computer monitor instead of partying, and one of my favorite things in the world is to get other people as excited about the intersection of communications theory and technology as I am.If you're in to credentials, I have Bachelor's and Master's in Communications from Grand Valley State University and I've worked at Grand Rapids-based communications firms including J.W. Messner, Inc. and Seyferth & Associates. I've done crisis communications, online reputation management, written social media policy, developed training, and promotion for over a decade.Presently I'm the Communications Technology Manager at Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC). I currently serve on the board of the West Michigan Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), the Marketing Committee of the West Michigan Environmental Action Council, and I'm an adjunct faculty member at GRCC teaching Interpersonal Communication and Public Speaking (I've also previously taught at GVSU). I'm available for social media speaking / consulting / training and other matters of geek-dom (like if you're trying to beat the 2nd Quest on Legend of Zelda and can't find level seven). Contact me if you're interested in retaining my services.

To improve performance of WHOIS service and to prevent its excessive high-volume use by a single source, we implemented a randomly generated Access Code that must be entered before running a WHOIS request.

Please enter the Access Code from the image field into the text field and then click the Continue button to proceed with your request.

The Access Code in the box is provided in graphics format. It has letters which are generated randomly and the symbol images are distorted. The distorted symbols cannot be read by computer programs which are used for mass-collect email addresses and any customer information. Only humans can read the distorted symbols and pass the access code. The Access Code improves performance of our services. It prevents excessive high-volume use by a single source.

The services that require Access Codes are:

Whois – after entering the correct Access Code you can run 10 WHOIS requests before you will be prompted to enter a new Access Code.

Site Info – you can run 25 Site Info requests before you will be prompted to enter an Access Code.

Trace Route - you can run 20 Trace Route requests before you will be prompted to enter an Access Code.

RBL Check - you can run 20 RBL Check requests before you will be prompted to enter an Access Code.

What’s my IP - Access Code is not required for this service.

NOTE: We may modify Access Code policy at any time without notice on this web page.
