Simon Czapla bedient sich innerhalb seiner Malerei an ikonenhaft überhöhten Figuren und stellt diese in Kontrast zu Kürzeln und Zitaten des kollektiven Bildgedächtnisses der Kunst und Zeitgeschichte. Die Ikonographie , einiger Malereien des Künstlers , erinnern an eine längst untergegangene religiös aufgeladene Kompositionsweise,welche sich in Kontrast zur Popkultur setzt. Am Anfang steht die Figur, die während des Entstehungsprozesses in eine Bildwelt aus Farbfeldern,Ornamenten und weiteren Figuren/Objekten eingebettet wird. Diese Bildfragmente dienen zur Entwicklung von Überhöhungen und Reizmomenten ,die meist direkt auf den jeweiligen Inhalt verweisen. Jedem der gewählten Inhalte, wird ein eigener Bildraum zugeordnet,ein hybrider Olymp in dem die Tradition ein aktuelle Glaubwürdigkeit erhäält. Es entsteht ein neobarockes Allover gespickt mit Formzitaten der Popkultur,sodass eine größtmögliche Informationdichte entsteht. Da inhaltliche Bezüge für Czapla priorität haben, kontert er auf formaler Ebene, um ein insgesamt heterogenen Eindruck zu erzeugen .Über seine subjektive visuelle Wahrnehmung, entwickelt er opulente Bildphantasien, die dem Betrachter auffordern sich zu positionieren.
