The first Design Store in Syria, Yabe & Yamo was established in 2010 by husband and wife team Architect Michel and Salma Zayat who are passionate about all things art and design, and who wanted to harness that passion to create an inspiring place to shop for design objects and accessories. Yabe & Yamo presents its own line of designs which are 100% made in Syria using local materials combining creativity, innovation and functionality; as well as showcasing designs made by other local and international designers. The Yabe & Yamo store presents authentic and modern designs that carry the Syrian identity ranging from furniture designs to lighting and accessories. By introducing modern designs and designers to Damascus, and through creating the Yabe & Yamo collection, the aim is to encourage Syrian designers, and to have fun!! In store awaits an exciting array of sleek furniture, cool lighting, original glassware and a selection of home design accessories, a nice selection of art and design books and a variety of practical items with a superb design twist… The Yabe & Yamo line has evolved out of a deeply artistic and architectural experience of Architect Michel Zayat, who has been working in the field of Architecture and design over the past 10 years, resulting with an elegant and rational style, simple shapes and clear lines. Signature pieces include the minimalist colorful “Corn” lamps made out of a huge hand hammer copper pans originally used for selling corn in the streets of Damascus, “Adam” the rocking chair painted by famous Syrian painter Fadi Yazigi. Other local designers are also introduced such as Majdi Kuzbari – Interior designer and Wadih Sayegh – Jewelry designer. International designs are presented; include items from Japan, Turkey, Italy, France and the Netherlands. All combine at Yabe & Yamo to create a modern, creative and inspiring design experience.
