Description: The Big White Fire Department was established more than 20 years ago with the primary mission to provide for the protection and preservation of life, property and the environment for the residence, guest, staff and owners in and around the resort. This service is provided to the community by a group of professional, dedicated paid-on-call individuals and 3 Career Officers. The department relies heavily on a regimented well-structured training program accompanied by the Fire Crew and WEP member’s ability to respond to emergencies in the community. Our Career Officers conduct duty-coverage rotation 24/7 and responds from throughout the community when the need for help is recognized by calling 911. Our Firecrew is trained to meet the requirements of the BC Firefighter Basic program standard and many are trained to the highest level of the Provincial First Responder program inclusive of Spinal Immobilization and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).
