Description: In 1989, Homer and Alice Drew began caring for homeless animals in Warren County and formed the Animal Welfare Association (AWA). Alice continued working with the group after Homer's death and expanded it to include multiple foster homes, pet adoption through and working with first responders (911) on emergency animal calls. In 2000, she gave notice to the Warren County Commissioners that AWA would no longer perform that service for the county.
