Description: ICBA Project NEWS Eduniveral Conference, Prague - October 29th - November 1st, 2010 FIA Business School participate in the 2010 Eduniversal Conference held in the Czech Republic. This conference gathers over 1,000 the top rated schools from all regions of the world. This year the conference theme was on concepts and experences in teaching Corporate Social Responsability in business Education. FIA presented ICBA project, and had a stand in the exhibition hall where the ICBA Project was presented to interested to many interested parties, including CEEMAN, an association the integrates several business schools in eastern Europe. E.M. Lyon Seminar, October 15th, 2010 On October the 15th, Prof. James Wright and Aron Zylbermann, from FIA and IGESC conducted a seminar for the international MBA class at Lyon, France. In this seminar, the ICBA Project approach and objectives were presented, with the intent to foster the involvement of a group of students to implement an initial ICBA project at E.M.Lyon. With a class of over 30 students from many different parts of the world, the response was very positive, and several students followed up the presentation with many questions and demonstrated a lively interest in taking part in a initial MBA student project in France. Subsequently, a student group was formed, under guidance from Prof. Rickie Moore, of E.M.Lyon, and the first formal ICBA project was initiated. Milan Workshop 10-12th October 2010. In Sonoro, Italy, just outside Milan, the 2nd ICBA Project Seminar was held over a period of three days, from October 10-12, gathering representatives from Bbusiness Schools, NGOs and Novartis from countries represented: Brazil, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Greece, Italy, France and Turkey. The participants discussed the experience and methodology developed in Brazil, exchanged presentations about experiences with social preojects underway in various European countries, including presentations by participants from Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Croatia and France, as well as presenting the needs expectations and experiences of the business schools and NGOs from other countries present. All of The ICEBA teaching materials were distributed to the participants, and in the final day the following propositions were agreed on: - The ICBA teaching material will be translated to the language of each participanting country by schools and NGOs of each participating country; - The material developed by each in the local language by each participating entity will be the intellectual property of the entity; - Suggestions and improvements to the original ICBA material in English will be proposed to FIA GESC by the associated organizations, and will be shared via the updated website ; - A project based on the ICBA approach will be developed in each country and discussed with the local Novartis representative for implantation during 2011; - FIA-GESC will provide technical support to the ICBA project member through to March 2011 under the current project. - All parties agreed to start implementation and to develop another workshop to meet again in one year to evaluate the progress achieved in implementing a ICBA initiative. Over the last fourteen years, Instituto GESC (Gestão para Entidades da Sociedade Civil, a capacity-building NGO) and FIA (Fundação Instituto de Administração, a business school) have collaborated in Brazil on innovative programs to strengthen civil society. The unique approach of GESC Institute and FIA has enabled more than 620 organizations or 1,509 social leaders to participate in and benefit from a program that combines in-class instruction, an e-learning platform and access to trained consultants. Organizations representing all social causes have participated in the program – environment, civil rights, children, elderly and others. The initiative has been very successful in Brazil and internationally recognized by the MBAA (MBA Association).
