Description: The Kentucky Telehealth Network is a videoconferencing system that connects xx rural hospitals, xx regional referral hospitals, xx Lexington and Louisville hospitals, xx public health departments and has connections to healthcare related sites throughout Kentucky. The mission of the statewide telehealth network is to increase the quality, availability and accessibility of healthcare throughout the State of Kentucky, particularly as it impacts the rural population within the State. Video-conferencing allows the rural areas of the State to have access to other health providers and information without the need for extensive travel. Additionally, the network is designed to bring together invaluable resources to improve the readiness of the State to deal with terrorist acts and threats as well as naturally-occurring disasters.
