Louisiana University Child Welfare Workforce Alliance

Description: The Social Work Programs from Grambling State University, Louisiana State University, Northwestern State University, Southern University – Baton Rouge, Southern University – New Orleans, Southeastern Louisiana University, University of Louisiana at Monroe, the Department of Children & Family Services (DCFS), and the Louisiana Child Welfare Comprehensive Workforce Project (LCWCWP) have formed an alliance with the goal of improving permanency, safety, and well-being for children and youth by improving the systems in the state that recruit, train, and supervise child welfare professionals. The universities offer specialized classes and stipends for child welfare interns, while DCFS provides internships and training. LCWCWP sponsors training, retention support activities, and appreciation days for DCFS staff in all regions throughout the state.
