Description: Cell is the most fundamental element of a living organism like human, animal, bacteria, and plants. Bacteria are unicellular made of one cell whereas human are multi-cellular consisting of estimated 1012 cells. Cell helps to transform food into nutrients, energy, divides itself to form new cells; cell builds tissues to do different body functions, stores DNA code instructions. It creates the body control system to maintain body function, do metabolisms, excretes waste products, purify blood, and supply energy to tissues; builds up a defense system to prevent attack from outside organism. In other words cell is the human body system. The understanding of cell and formation of cell theory started in early 17th century when Hook could see the cells through a course microscope. Hook didn't understand the structure and function of the cell; he saw a cork structure and called it cell. In time more accurate microscopes were developed that help to see the live cells, cell division, actual, cell structure. Then with advanced microscopes and more research two theories are evolved: Classical cell theory and modern cell theory.
