The SPCA for Monterey County is the local, independent heart of animal rescue since 1905. We shelter and adopt homeless, neglected and abused pets and provide humane education to the community. The SPCA's doors are open to all animals in need: dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, horses, barn animals, rabbits, exotics, and more. We are the local agency for investigating animal cruelty, rescue and rehabilitate injured wildlife, and aid domestic animals in distress.

Morien Institute home page with links to our many projects about ancient civilisations destroyed by natural disasters such as cosmic impacts of asteroids, comets and meteorites causing abrupt climate changes, earthquakes and tsunamis. Stonehenge and other megalithic observatories, designed as meteorite-storm early-warning systems. Encounters with cometary debris caused abrupt climate changes and rising sea-levels submerging Atlantis and many other ancient lands. The events of July 16th to 22nd 1994, when the remnants of a fragmenting comet, P/Shoemaker-Levy 9, bombarded the surface of Jupiter causing fireballs many times the size of our own planet, were an abrupt wake-up call even for those who were aware of them. The historical sciences generally, and archology in particular, have collectively painted a picture of the past as if our planet stands alone in empty space. Nothing could be further from reality. Our restless planet exists in a solar system that has experienced a very dynamic history over the past 20 to 30 millennia, and it is only from this perspective that the true history of human civilisation will ever be fully understood. The Morien Institute archive therefore contains relevant material from many disciplines, and asks questions such as Where are the sacred places of the ancient celtic druids? How did ancient Peruvians mark out the geoglyphs on the Nazca Plain? Were the numerous underwater megaliths built during the last ice age? How old is the Great Sphinx on the Giza Plateau in Egypt? How many impact craters are there on the Earth?
