Sun City Center is an age restricted active adult retirement community located in west central Florida, a few miles from Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. The independent and self-governed retirement community is comprised of several thousand retirement homes whose residents are active seniors aged 55 or older. The community facilities available include, tennis courts, lawn bowling facilities, swimming pools, a fitness center, a library, over 100 clubs and craft organizations, and several buildings to assure that the community is a place where active retired residents can remain active throughout their retirement years. Each resident pays a nominal annual fee for maintenance and upkeep of community owned facilities. There are also several privately owned USGA-rated golf courses for seniors located within the community. Golf carts are allowed to be kept at home and driven on public streets anywhere within the community, which eliminates the need for two cars and enables many active retirees to extend their independent active lifestyle several years.
