The trail runs 154 miles through the Red River Valley, on the Red River of the North. The race starts in Halstad, Minnesota, 50 miles north of Fargo-Moorhead.
From there, mushers follow the Red River Valley – one of the world’s flattest landscapes – to East Grand Forks, Minnesota and back again to Halstad.
