(DGAK) wurde 1993 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen von Ärzten und Wissenschaftlern gegründet und später der Internationalen Gesellschaft für Amyloid in Boston, Vereinigte Staaten von Amerika, angegliedert.Die DGAK unterstützt Ärzte und Wissenschaftler, die die Ursachen und Folgen der Amyloidose erforschen. Sie unterstützt alle Bemühungen, die einer Verbesserung des Verständnisses und der Behandlung der Amyloidosen dienen.Die DGAK betätigt sich aktiv an der Aus- und Weiterbildung ärztlichen und nichtärztlichen Personals im Gesundheitswesen.
