Mostly, pigment stones caused by liver or blood disorders, when the amount of bilirubin increased, moreover, stay in gallbladder for long time. There are also, some other reasons for gallstones, including obesity, some medication, or dieting. In some cases, crash dieting to reduce weight rapidly may cause gallstones. Medicines like oral contraceptives, cholesterol-decreasing pill, or obesity control pills may cause stone in gall bladder. There is also some relationship in diet and gallstones, however foods rich in cholesterol or fat may also cause stone in gallbladder, but the exact reason is still unrevealing. When gallstones and bile mixes, they can block the outflow of enzymes and especially of digestive enzymes, causing inflammation. Inflammation of duct or pancreas, are underlying causes of gallstones.
