Monica F. Helms Monica Helms has been an activist in the transgender community since 1998, starting off in Phoenix, Arizona. She currently owns a home in Marietta, GA. She has been involved in several local, state and national organizations, serving on their boards or their advisory boards. She was the Director of Operation for It's Time, Arizona from 1998 to 2000 and the Executive Director for Trans=Action in Georgia from 2000 to 2006. In January 2003, Helms Co-Founded the Transgender American Veterans Association (TAVA) with Angela Brightfeather and serves as the President since then. TAVA's Web site is www.tavausa.org.
