Society of Genealogists 1911-2011, Family History, Genealogy, Family Names The Society of Genealogists - the national library and education centre for family history in the UK. The Library, which holds over 120,000 items in book, microfilm, fiche and CD is open to members, the libary catalogue is searchable online. Other family historians can also use the library to search for ancestors on payment of a small fee. The Library has free access to a wide range of on-line family history websites including access to a number of pay-to-view resources to allow research on BMD and Census information, migration records. The Society runs an extensive programme of lectures, workshops and more in depth courses on all aspects of family history research as well as publishig a range of attactively priced books on a range of related subjects.
