The Thompson/Sanders Collection This site includes photos of Marshallese artifacts and handicrafts collected by the Thompson family during 1950 to 1952, while Major Thompson served as Commanding Officer of the Marine Detachment on Kwajalein. These photos were taken during the summer of 2005. It also describes Rufus Buell Thompson, Jr.'s tour aboard the USS Nashville 1943-1945, and his experiences with General Douglas MacArthur in 1944.
