The late, great Miles Davis had been experimenting with rap songs, which indicates the he recognized that hip hop was the direction of the future for both rap and jazz worlds. Max Roach felt that the next Charlie Parker would come from the rap/hip hop community. Artists, such as: Donald Byrd, Roy Ayers, Miles Davis, the Roots, Jill Scott, Sade', Branford Marsalis, to name just a few, have collaborated with hip-hop artists. This music has created a bevy of young talented musicians/recording artists without real platforms to be heard by their fans. As with all other music forms today, video formatted shows not only provide national and international recognition but they create major increase in sales.
