Christa Dalien › Home I am an artist currently living in Lawrence, KS, aka 10+hrs from everywhere. I work in a variety of different mediums including installation, drawing, painting, and printmaking. I am interested in the oddly distanced relationship that we often have to the natural world. This distance we place between the natural world and ourselves makes it easier to disregard the effects our actions have. My work is a reflection of our efforts, successful and unsuccessful, to live with and understand the world around us. Abandoned plants left in alleyways, bits of garbage on the ground spread like confetti, plastic bags caught in trees like ribbons, rocks covered with graffiti, concrete barriers containing “natural settings”, felled environmental eras, and posed taxidermy in the natural history museum; it is within these images that tell so much about our connections to each other and the world around us.
