Jean Anyon Jean Anyon is one of few scholars whose work investigates political economy and urban education. Her last book, Ghetto Schooling: A Political Economy of Urban Educational Reform, was reviewed in the New York Times and in many other publications and is widely used and cited. Her many scholarly pieces address educational issues involving the confluence of social class, race, and education. Several of her articles are classics and have been reprinted in over forty books edited by others. Her forthcoming book is entitled Radical Possibilities: Public Policy, Urban Education, and a New Social Movement. On January 1, 2004, Professor Anyon and colleagues at Rutgers and the University of Pennsylvania obtained a $10 million grant from the National Science Foundation to set up a Center for Learning and Teaching Urban Mathematics. Professor Anyon attended the University of Pennsylvania as an All-University Scholar and carried out doctoral research at Penn and New York University, whee she earned her Ph.D. Before coming to The Graduate Center, she was a faculty member at Rutgers University.
