He is known as Asia's first-and-only historian painter, specializing in helping famillies and organizations to research and document localized histories into paintings. Having received many accolades in his career, Marcus is internationally recognized for his work, particularly for his outstanding portraits. In 2009 an image of his painting 'A Bowl of Water' that was published in Asian Geographic Magazine, was bestowed with the most prestigious 'Cover Art of the Decade' Award by the title.
