Grafted Grapevine Nursery, LLC The Grafted Grapevine Nursery, LLC has been providing growers, large and small, with high quality grafted and own rooted grape vines since 1957. Owner and operators, Herman and Ute Amberg, started the nursery while Herman was working for Dr. N. Shaulis at Cornell Universitys Geneva Experimental Station. Herman co-authored the Geneva Double Curtain training system publication, and worked on in the first microclimate study of the Finger Lakes, NY, among other grape research projects. In 1968, Herman left Cornell to pursue the nursery full time.
In the tradition of Hermans research background | we are constantly experimenting with new techniques to increase quality (always the primary goal) and control costs.
Currently we are participating in the development of a statewide certification system. In the meantime, we will continue to work with virus tested and certified material where possible.
The Grafted Grapevine Nursery, LLC is constantly looking for the best varieties and clones for their customers throughout the US. This may be the most desirable clone of Chardonnay or Pinot Noir, or the best Interspecific Variety, whether it is one of the older French/American hybrids like Vidal Blanc, or from new generation of varieties like Traminette and Bianca. It is our goal to provide our customers with the grape variety(s) that are best suited for their climate and market, so that they may flourish in our industry.
