Artist Joaquin Sanchez, Palm Springs CA Joaquin Sanchez: A new Artist here in Palm Springs, CA. I will tell you a bit about me and why I paint. I was born in Havana, Cuba, came to the United States in Dec. 1961. I moved to the desert 4 years ago from Los Angeles via San Francisco. I made Palm Springs my home. my studio is located in my place.
I began to paint in 1986, but had to stop painting after a few months because of work.
Once I move to the desert in 2005 I decided to take an early retirement because of health issues.
I was diagnosed with Cancer on Sept. 2007; I decided to start painting again in 2007. By painting it was a way for me to release my feelings through a brush and inspiration.
Ever since I began to paint again, my art has been in a constant state of change. Much time is spent experimenting with new techniques, colors, but whatever I do, it always come from the heart.
Art is my safe place where I could be happy and free with zero stress. I try to use all mediums and styles in my art. I love to explore all my artistic talents using my creativity that God has given me. Every artist has their own creativity and technique and that what makes us different from each other...
Every piece of my artworks reflects and illustrates my life feelings, surroundings, the things and ideas that capture my imagination and my eyes.
I love to express the beauty of life and everything around me. I was given a second chance in life after my Cancer diagnose. The chemo was brutal, but the inspiration of my partner, family, my faith and my painting its what kept me going, At times there were moments that I didnt think I was going to make it.
My paintings are on canvas or canvas board and are done in Acrylic; sometimes I use plaster to give some texture.
