wildlifebyfred--Fred Thompson I was going to close my web site effective today (12-15-2010) but after some talking with some friends I have decided to keep it open for another year. Thank you for taking the time to visit my web site and view my photos, I hope you get as much enjoyment out of viewing them as I have in the taking of them. While I have had no formal training in photography I am sure you will find some flaws in my photos, but I do feel I have made a big improvement over the last 4 years in the quality of my photos. I have met many people on line through my web site and other photo web sites and have learned a lot from the people I have met, and I would like to take a moment to thank all the people that have helped me with their comments and critiques of my photos.
When I first started taking wildlife photos my main interest was big game, deer, bear, turkeys etc. While spending the time waiting for a chance to take these photos I started to take more photos of birds and I have come to really enjoy avian photography. The work that it takes to get the detail in the feathers of a bird can be real demanding, but in the long run it has made me a better photographer. While I will never pass up the opportunity to photograph big game I can now be content to go out and just photograph birds and have spent countless hours doing so.
I am currently using Canon cameras and a combination of Canon and Sigma lenses with a Bogen tripod with a Wimberly head. My equipment is not the top of the line but is good equipment capable of taking good photos, while better equipment would be nice I am using what I can afford at this time.
If you enjoyed viewing my photos I would love to hear your comments and if there are things you do not like I would like to hear that also. Just about all the photos on my web site are for sale as prints, for one time use in magazines and books, or for exclusive rights, so if you have any interested in any of my photos please feel free to contact me.
