Death Valley 1849 Based on the book Death Valley in 49 by William Lewis Manly, this film takes you back 160 years ago, when any overland travel in the United States was in a covered wagon. Deciding to head to the gold fields in California, William Manly joined Asahel Bennett and his family on the overland trail. After taking a false shortcut and trying to follow a mountain range that only existed on the map, they head out in to the great Nevada desert traveling blind. With no trail to follow and worsening conditions it would only be a matter of time before they ran out of food and water. Death Valley 1849 takes you on this harrowing trek with William Lewis Manly, John Rogers and the Bennett-Arcane family wagons.
