Metacast, the Peer to Peer Multicast Solution from General Entropy Software, Inc. Metacast is a data-distribution technology currently in development. Metacast combines the robustness of peer-to-peer networks with the efficiency of network multicasting in order to optimize data delivery to individual nodes. Metacast networks are self-forming, with each node determining whether it is part of an existing multicast domain. If not, the node receives its data from one or more nodes in different domains.
