Ministry of Health, New Zealand The New Zealand Ministry of Health, Manatu Hauora, is the NZ Government's principal agent and advisor on health and disability. Formerly known as the Department of Health, it develops policy advice for the Government on health and disability issues, administers health regulations and legislation and funds health and disability support services. The Health Ministry is committed to improving the health and independence of New Zealanders, and to reducing inequalities in health status between all New Zealanders including Maori and Pacific peoples.
