Hawaii florist maui florist kauai florist, Oahu Florist he Big Island is called Hawaii, like the state, but referred to as the Big Island to keep people from getting confused. The official flower of the big island is the red ohia, that grows from the Lehua tree. The Ohia flower is believed among the islanders to be sacred to the goddess Pele of the volcanoes. In the Hawaiian mythology, Ohia and Lehua were lovers. Pele wanted Ohia for herself, but he didn't want anyone but Lehua. So in anger, Pele turned him into a tree. Lehua was so devastated by the loss, that the other gods turned her into a flower, and placed her into the Ohia tree. Plucking a flower from the tree is discouraged; it's said that the skies will fill with rain, that represents the lovers' tears at being separated. Laulani.com~Site InfoWhoisTrace RouteRBL Check
