Jana E. Pinker Memorial Foundation In August of 1997, at the age of eighteen, Jana was diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer. At the MD Anderson Cancer Research Institute in Houston, Texas, she was told her illness was terminal. She would probably not survive another year. Jana fought her illness with every ounce of strength she had. She even completed a semester of college. Jana beat the odds. She lived fifteen months after her diagnosis.
