ESPRIT IL-2: Evaluation of Subcutaneous Proleukin in a Randomized International Trial ESPRIT is a randomized, international, 5-year, 4000-person study of interleukin-2 (IL-2) in people with HIV infection and a CD4 (also called T4) cell count of at least 300/mm3. The goal of study is to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of IL-2 plus anti-HIV therapy versus anti-HIV therapy alone on numbers and severity of AIDS-related illnesses and deaths over a 5-year period. RIVUR - Randomized Intervention for Children with Vesicoureteral Reflux Vesicoureteral Reflux VUR, is a condition in which urine goes up from the bladder into the ureters during urination. VUR is found in thirty to fifty percent of children who have had a urinary tract infection UTI. The RIVUR Study, sponsored by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, will be conducted in 15 specialty clinics in the US and Canada. The study is designed to determine whether daily preventative treatment with a common antimicrobial medication or trimethoprim sulfamethoxazole, TMP SMZ, for treatment of UTI, is superior to placebo in preventing recurrence UTI.
