The Greenwood Genetic Center is a nonprofit institute organized to provide clinical genetics services and laboratory testing, to develop educational programs and materials, and to conduct research in teh field of medical genetics.Since 1974, the Greenwood Genetic Center has been a leader in the delivery of genetic services, committed to diagnosing genetic conditions, counseling individuals and families and supporting their health care providers, researching the causes of genetic disease in order to prevent future disabling conditions, and educating health care providers, teachers and the public about genetics.The Greenwood Genetic Center works closely with the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs to provide diagnostic services, treatment and prevention programs to reduce the severity of disabling conditions.
