– Practice life long learning tomaintain them in their career as General Practitioners
– Promote self-awareness and howit affects doctor-patient, personal and professional relationships
– Practice critical evaluation,audit and research
The basic aim is to enable doctors, at the end of their training, tofunction independently as competent family doctors within the health caresystem and to be aware of their own changing personal, educational anddevelopmental needs in order to be able to meet them.
Inorder to promote life long learning, an interactive teaching model, with astrong emphasis on self-study in order to stimulate trainee’s creativity isused. Within the small group work, the trainee learns teamwork, how to keepsecrets, how to accept changing truths. Through the ‘human doctor’ programme,he or she develops counselling skills and achieves human growth. During thefour-year programme, which combines high challenge with high support, thetrainee hopefully develops competence in dealing with disease, develops aprofessional identity and learns to heal.
