The Stabyhoun, or Stabij, is a rare breed of dog that originates from Friesland, a province in the northern part of the Netherlands. The name Stabyhoun is from the Dutch sta me bij hond which means stand by me dog. We have chosen a Friesian name for our kennel to show our close ties between the breed's country of origin and our home state of Vermont.
