ん、ンは、日本語の仮名の1つである。この音は、撥音（はつおん、はねるおん）と呼ばれ、1モーラを形成するが、通常は子音であり、かつ、直前に母音を伴うため、単独では音節を構成せず、直前の母音と共に音節を構成する。ただし、「ん?」などのように語頭にある場合は、母音に代わる音節の核、すなわち音節主音として、単独で音節を構成する。したがって、鼻母音以外に発音される限り、すなわち子音である限り、「ん」は音節主音的な子音である。「ん」は元来五十音には現れないが、一般にわ行の次に置かれる。

Thai is a member of the Tai group of the Tai-Kadai language family. The Tai-Kadai languages are thought to have originated in what is now southern China. Historical linguists have been unable to definitively link the Tai-Kadai languages to any other language family. Many words in Thai are borrowed from Pali, Sanskrit and Old Khmer. It is a tonal and analytic language. Thai also has a complex orthography and relational markers. Thai is mutually intelligible with Lao.
