Uttar Dinajpur Zilla Parishad was formed on 22nd September ,1992 and the assets, liabilitiesof the Diostrict Board were transfered to the Parishad. The 3-tier Panchayat system was introduced under the provision of the Panchayat Act, 1973. The 73rd and 74th Amendments of the constitution strengthened the Panchayati Raj structure and made the Zilla Parishad an important medium for implementation of Development Programme at the grass root level.Uttar Dinajpur Zilla Parishad is engaged in Socio-Economics development of the district from town to the remotest village since the inception of Zilla Parishad in 1964.
